CBS Packaging make £1.75m investment

CBS Packaging is to invest £1.75m in a new facility and further recruitment to cater for record demand.

The West Bromwich-based independent designer and manufacturer of corrugated cardboard packaging is set to buy a new site in Benfleet, Essex. The £1.75m funding will be used to acquire the freehold premise in Essex, helping expand production and recruit more staff to its 225 UK workforce.

Founded in 1996 as a family business, CBS is one of the few independent manufacturers in the UK which has its own paper supply, fully functioning corrugating machines as well as design teams. Over the past 20 years, the firm has grown to a £27m turnover company.

The acquisition of Connect Packaging in 2013 was followed by further investment in digital printing technology which opened up new markets in the POS sector.
Jitha Singh, managing director, CBS Packaging Group said: “These are exciting times for Connect Packaging. We have already invested in new digital technology, a four colour servo driven quick set case maker and a five colour rotary servo die cutter in the past year. “This site purchase will enable us to increase capacity, further maximise efficiencies and give us head room to continue to grow the business at the rate seen in recent years.”
