Outstanding Contribution to the Corrugated Packaging Industry

Jitha Singh, CEO of UK based CBS Packaging explains how his father’s vision and ethics have been the catalyst for the family’s business success.
CBS Packaging was led from humble beginnings to become one of the largest independent corrugated packaging companies in the UK. The company is located in Sandwell, West Midlands and it has over 80 employees working on site bringing the company a turnover of £27 million in the last financial year. CBS Packaging benefits from its own paper supply, corrugator, latest digital print technologies as well as an award winning CAD design team.

Jitha along with his brother, Jan Singh started trading as Corrugated Box Supplies in 1996 from a 5000 sq ft industrial unit, and soon realised the potential of the cardboard manufacturing business. They moved the business to 33,000 sq ft building in Sandwell, West Midlands where investments in new machinery expanded the company’s manufacturing capabilities. As customer demands increased, the company decided to invest in a much larger site of 60,000 sq ft still in same area in order to ensure that customer growth was supported by consistent quality and service.

Jitha’s vision has been to create a single source for all design, print and corrugated packaging requirements that will deliver longevity, stability and equity for the company and its valued customers. With this thought in mind, the company invested in a paper merchant based in Manchester which turns over £4 million. In 2005, CBS Packaging embarked on a multi-million pound investment programme by acquiring Swallow Box which enhanced CBS distribution network within the south of England.

Connect Packaging was added to the group in 2013 and has since invested in state-of-the-art digital printing technology which has revolutionised its production process and opened up new markets in the point of sale sector. Not only has the company made investments in new equipment by acquiring a four colour servo driven quick set case maker and a five colour rotary servo die cutter in the past year, it has also focused on the employment of a new management team who are tasked with driving the business forward.

Over the last 20 years, CBS Packaging has been established as a solid and sustainable independent packaging group which delivers support, innovation and collaboration to both new and existing customers. CBS Packaging is committed to sustainable business growth and social responsibility including sourcing the best materials, reducing waste by recycling paper and board, reduce the carbon emissions and create hundreds of new jobs.
